the last of the prints for the print project and OH MY GOD HALF TONES. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!?!?!?! so, so sad i only made your acquaintance now they've thrown us out for summer and are tearing the place down.

sssssiiiiiggghhh.

anyhoo , mrs.o is a totally rad song by the dresden dolls. you should listen to it. a lot.

p.s i don't know if you're familiar with TED lectures. they're a series of wonderful, wonderful bite-sized talks on all manner of things by some super insightful folk. here's an ace one on the state of the education system. GIVE IT A TWIRL!

aaaand more print project stuff. holy crap. i could actually listen to 'melancholy hill' by gorrilaz ALL DAY. EVERYDAY. that shit is just so synth-tastic, it's off the chain.

it also has a gloriously random music video. i'm guessing it makes a whole lot more sense if you've kept up with the storyline that's been evolving over the course of the band's discography... should catch up on that some time since i am totally in love with what jamie hewlett can do with a pencil.

aaaand for a closer look:

MY, WHAT PRETTY HAND-WRITTING YOU HAVE, ALEX. for the print project. oh man, why they didn't include 'bird song' on lungs is a bit of a mystery. this song is just too much damn fun. hooray for maddening guilt!

initial drawing and colour test for yet another of those pesky screen prints. HA, you say that like you've done a shed-load of these. so far, you've only done FOUR over the course of the whole year and really, you've only really got time to do one more of these before the end of year crit.

TAKE COVER, 'CAUSE HERE COMES THE FAIL WHALE.

on the up side, this is quite possibly the only existing example of you using a colour scheme that doesn't consist of brown, brown and brown. well done you.

WOOOOOOW, that was a whole lot of self piteous bitching and moaning. here is some totally rad music to make up for it:

holy freaking hell. i LOVE this little ditty. pretty hyped for the film it's from too since folk are describing hanna as a totally nuts art-house action flick. HE-LLO!

oh screen printing. i am the stella to your wife beater.

but really, i just suck balls through a straw at doing this. been trying to print this particular little s.o.b for like... 3 weeks or something stupid. in the end, i ballsed it up so fantastically that i just printed the colours speratly and put it together in photoshop. way to pussy out, son.

musical accompiant- dead man's will by iron and wine

snippet from another drawing i'm working up for the print project. long print is going to be long, yo.

for the print project, which i am totally abusing in order to mindlessly doodle to songs. this is the initial drawing, and hopefully the final screen print will come out looking even half way like this. totally not filled with hope given how damn grainy the colour separations look though (see the one above. YEASH).

this one's for iron and wine's 'dead man's will'.

man. what a heart breaker.

hopefully i'll get a chance to do this soon, but right now a whole load of the screen printing equipment at uni's more broken than a sad heart.

pencil work for another screen print. we've got the week off for assessments so i'm kinda hoping to just blitz this project while i can (along with trying to get a few liberty pages done... and maybe some misc. stuff and oh dear i think this is another case of expectations meeting reality and it all going horribly awry.)

boy howdy, do i suck at screen printing. lessons learnt:

- always use a wider sguige
- anorexic lines are the worst idea ever.

for the print project. god damn, seeing this song live moved me in unexpected ways.

pencils for another bit of the print project. my god. do a happy song already. shit's starting to get a wee bit to emo, yo.

on another note, dead man's will by iron an wine sounds SUPER dishy on the ukulele.... but that might just be me being a little bit bias. hell, i'd probably go nuts for thrash metal by way of one of those retarded little guitars.

for the print project. the will to etch this thing went out like robert falcon scott so it's just going to be a screen print. said yah boo sucks to the original format too, because A-sizes are for chumps, yo.

rough (HA HA HA) for the hideously neglected print project. we got to write our own brief for this, so i totally hijacked it as a chance to live out that illustrated songs pipe/wet dream . oh my god yes.

we are going to come crashing back to reality when i try to etch this mother fucker in it's 3 x a3 glory.

NOTE TO SELF: YOU'VE SCREWED THE POOCH IN THE FINAL DRAWINGS. LEAVE SOME WHITE IN ROUND THE BREAKING POINT SO SHIT LOOKS LIKE IT'S, YA KNOW, BREAKING. WAAAAY TOO ROBUST RIGHT NOW.
