p.s watched this superbly put together documentary about rand-inism and how it tied into the economic meltdown. you should give it a go. it's TOTALLY facinating:

leftovers from the macmillan project. the dip pen drawing is a fabulous showcase of my COMPLETE lack of understanding of hatching. i think i may have also been a little illibriated when i sat down to do this so that's a double fault. also, had a revelation the other day that mr. cloak man is essentially what would happen it spawn and mickey mouse had some kind of terrible love child.

hats off to class-buddy hector lloyd for landing himself a highly recommended award and a place in the macmillan exhibition. you can see some spreads from his totally fucking charming book RIGHT HERE . man. cannot wait to check out that show.

initial drawing and colour test for yet another of those pesky screen prints. HA, you say that like you've done a shed-load of these. so far, you've only done FOUR over the course of the whole year and really, you've only really got time to do one more of these before the end of year crit.

on the up side, this is quite possibly the only existing example of you using a colour scheme that doesn't consist of brown, brown and brown. well done you.

but really, i just suck balls through a straw at doing this. been trying to print this particular little s.o.b for like... 3 weeks or something stupid. in the end, i ballsed it up so fantastically that i just printed the colours speratly and put it together in photoshop. way to pussy out, son.

god-fucking-damn. what an emotional sucker punch. it's not even funny how much you're feeling for characters(who are essentially just a bunch of wordless red shirts) and the whole playing it backwards thing just totally feeds it. and the music. OH MY GOD, THAT MUSIC. what a totally ace piece of film making. hats off to all involved [/gushing praise].

from life drawing. boy oh boy, is there a big back log of paper to be scanned in (i'm a nurotic nutbag and won't be happy till everything's backed up to the nines.)

this exercise was CRAZY. the model went through a string of minuet poses as they got undressed. man. that shit was intense. kinda left you feeling like someone had been playing croquet with your skull and a sledge hammer. pretty cool though, especially in terms of trying to get guesters down quick and thinking about how the body pulls shapes and oh my stars and garters, this is dissolving into typo-tastic nonsense. HOORRAY FOR SLEEP DEPRAVATION! I THINK THIS CALLS FOR SOME HAPPY-CLAPPY TUNEAGE!!

for the print project, which i am totally abusing in order to mindlessly doodle to songs. this is the initial drawing, and hopefully the final screen print will come out looking even half way like this. totally not filled with hope given how damn grainy the colour separations look though (see the one above. YEASH).

another piece for The Show. man, i'm thinking inking with acrylic is totally > than inking with actual ink. it's _way_ more messy and you can get all sorts of fun textures out of it, making for more lively work. HOO-HAAR!
