so now you've joined the horde of recently graduated and woefully unemployed ex-students, you're going to be updating the shit out of this blog, right?

...

aaaaaaapparently not.

wait wait wait! i haven't been being totally crap! actually, been keeping myself pretty busy- there are things in the works that i should be able to show you soon. like little people about to go toe to you with big, fuck off japanese monsters:

a little snippet from something that will hopefully be going in the back of a book http://richwriting.blogspot.co.uk/ doing with markosia. fingers crossed.

in the meantime, i bring you the head of our former life-drawing teacher!

part of a series of drawings (resulting in some rather nifty tea towels) we put together as a thank you gift for our tutor folk. we're rather sentimental like that.

*****
so a while back there was an episode of the nerdist where one of those most hostfull of hosts mentioned that they couldn't get enough of a group called 'pale young gentlemen'. i followed up this hot tip. my ears have been thanking me ever since.

so one of the projects i'm currently trying to nail down is this book about all the old shops in muswell. what with everything turning everything into yet another supermarket or ubber bougie hair dressers, they're becoming something of an increasingly rare breed.

anyhoo, some in process stuff. i apparently learnt NOTHING from the last talk with the tutor about this because we are still very much in 'AAAAHHH, LET'S JUST DO A LOAD OF SHIT AND CHUCK IT AT THE WALL AND HOPE IT WORKS' vein of things.

(warning. high levels of funky perspective can induce brain aneurisms)

hopefully going to get the brighton rock project licked today. this is not a lie i tell myself.

p.s. recently discovered you made it weird, another wonderful show on the ever expanding nerdist network. holy shit. this show. it's pretty much just pete holmes sitting down with a fellow stand up and rapping for an hour but oh my stars and garters, is it good. HERE'S A LINK TO A PERTICUALRY FINE EPISODE WITH TJ MILLER . put it in your ears, son.

a little work in progress. the (still unfinished) brighton rock comic project was getting dangerously close to turning me into a full blown manic depressant... so i opted to do the sensible thing AND TOTALLY BLOW IT OFF. NYAH!

in the mean time i thought i'd try and totally blitz one of the smaller projects so i've, you know, actually got something finished. so yeah, hitchcock posters. so far this has been a blast, AND an excellent excuse to watch some totally ace films. got to design four of these using three colours. once i've got the lot of them drawn out, i'm going to start twiddling with the pallet and lettering but so far we've got:

north by north west

and the birds

god, this SCENE. shit's so tense. this film also makes me totally take back all the smack i may have said about hitchcock tending to screw the ending after watching psycho and nxnw. what a totally creepy last shot.

aaaand now all the unrelated crap;

sketchbook junk:

a totally rad episode of the nerdist podcast with penn jillette. hot dog. this guy is just a fountain of great stories.

LATERZZZZZZZ

HOLY MOLY. YOU FELL RIGHT OFF THE KEEPING THE BLOG UPDATED WAGON, DIDN'T YOU?

in my defence, we're back at uni. it's pretty intense. i've yet to follow my tutor's advice to cut sleep from the schedule, although pretty much everything else has been scrapped BUT THAT'S OKAY BECAUSE I TOTALLY GET OFF ON THIS SHIT.

and now, naked people:

i totally suck at keeping up with what's going on in tv land, but apparently amanda (the model) was duking it out on "come dine with me a few weeks ago. c r a z y. i hope she kicked some culinary ass!

p.s. not so long ago ben folds was guesting on this episode of the nerdist podcast. hot dog. what a talented chap. the last 25 minuets of this made me so incredibly blue that i had to sell my ticket to go see him last time he was in town.

more summer project tomfoolery. huh. if you replace "places" with "the internet", you might get something that resembles a half truth.

all half ass-ing it aside, i don't know if i'm incredibly late to the party but holy moly, is reggie watts one talented mofo. if the singing, beatboxing and mad improvisation weren't enough, man can work magic that loop peddle/synth of his.

he also recently guested on the second half of this episode of the nerdist podcast. hot dog. what a cool dude. i will forever be in awe of folk who can just splurge awesome music.

oh man. my internet's decided that actually, working part time is a waaaaaay cushier deal so i've only really been able to get on it for like five minuets at stupid o'clock in the morning for the last week or so. hence the lack of stuff going on round these parts. FIRST WORLD PROBLEMVS, AMIRITE GUYS?????

that and i've been keeping kind of busy with stuff like this. i'll quit being all mysterious once we've got everything all ironed out bbbbbbbuuuut i might be taking part in a business venture which would be totally cool if it works out. more on that later. hopefully.

aaaaaaand the summer project. oh god, the summer project. you had like what? HALF A GODDAM YEAR to do this thing? and you've done what? two drawings.
...
two. drawings.
...
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHIT??!?!?!?!

i am alex's crushing sense of dissapointment in one's self. hopefully i'm going to get the one this thumb's for wrapped today and there's another that just needs to be put together in the old photoshop but in an ideal world, i'd really like to get another four done. at least. there are two weeks to do it.

I SMELL A CHALLENGE!

ew. that veered off into self self pittying county just a bit, didn't it? sorry. HERE'S YET ANOTHER ROLLICKING EPISODE OF THE NERDIEST PODCAST (FEATURING THE DELIGHTFULLY LOL-LARIOS AISHA TYLER) FOR YOUR AUDIBLE ENJOYMENT.

also, i can't decide if this is the greatest or worst thing ever:
