submissions for our department's zine-y thing, meow. topic for this issue was idols which was as good an opportunity as any to go all gushy over folk who blow my mind.

steven tobolowsky's podcast can be found here -> http://www.slashfilm.com/category/features/slashfilmcast/the-tobolowsky-files/ . man, i go through these things like they're paper walls.

poster for meow magazine. this month, the good folk running it have set 'idols' as the theme. this should be a fun one!

totally took this as an excuse to play around with the halftone setting in photoshop. i'd really like to try it with screen printing but there's some big, long, complicated formula that comes with that territory and scares the crap out of me.

submission for our department's magazine. the theme was, keeping in these festive times, festivities. god damn, i love me a shit christmas jumper.

stuff foe the meow magazine. theme this time round was costumes. ugh... that top one... do you ever picture something in your head and then that's totally not how it ends up coming out on paper? saw that in a totally different style but it totally got lost in translation. it's weird... and kinda makes you wonder what goes on in between your brain and your hand... is a lot of drawing just down to physical habit?

this animation here is delightfully dope. LOVING the look of it too- kinda like the bastard lovechild of oldskool hand drawn and cgi. DELICIOUS.

submission for the upcoming meow. this time round the theme's dislike, and what could possibly be less kosher than funky cooking?

going to cross post this to doodle caboodle for the food stuff theme even though there's 101 things that could be done for the shinny, new topic.... DAMN YOU TIME! WHY MUST YOU BE SO DAMN ELUSIVE!??!

the folk who run the illustration department's magazine, meow, managed to land themselves some funding which means the up coming issue's going TO BE IN COLOUR. massive kudos to them! i cannot wait to see what people have done for this one.

mmm-MMM! the inside of cereal boxes are wonderful to draw on and take ink washes really well. colours done in photoshop. i'm digging the combination. i think this is something i'm going to have to look into.

hoy hoy!

this time round the meow zine was looking for sketch book stuff. the top page was done while stuck in an airport en rout to copenhagen last summer. mm-mmm-mmmm, people watching!

note to self, do something with that 'don't talk, gesticulate' thing.

submission for this month's meow.

yo!

so the second year illustration students are in charge of this wee zine called meow that showcases a selection of works from across the three years. this month's theme was portraits, and what would be a more viable reason than that to sit down and doodle the 16th president of the US of A?

skimming through his wikipedia article and boy, did it suck to abraham lincoln.

i think this might also signify the end of my previously totally rebutted advances on the pen brush.
