thing the first!

a few weeks ago, i helped set up a rather unusual life drawing day for the illustration department at that university i swear to god i've left. asides from mike and emma, we had the pleasure of spending the day with a pair of owls, a lizard, a skunk and an armadillo. oh man. those last two were quite possibly the most adorable/impossible to draw things ever (asides from being disgustingly cute, skunks are hyper-drive-active.)

so in the last few sessions a couple of us decided to get all fancy pants on this shit and brought our tablets along. oh man. i wish i'd got on that sooner. it was quite a bit of fun.

NOTE TO SELF. REMEMBER TO PRINT THESE OFF FOR FINAL HAND IN. WHICH IS HAPPENING IN LIKE EIGHT DAYS. OH GOD.

and in other other news, here's an article from /slashfilm.com show casing some totally awesome mock up posters for that hanna movie. gosh, these are tight. that jock chap is a total genius when it comes to design and mind bending perspective. it makes me rather sad that nowadays, film posters seem so keen on plugging what names and faces are in the flick they're advertising, rather than trying to do something clever with the concept.

but then that would probably make for tres shitty marketing.

OH GOD, HOW I FEAR YOU SUMMER HOLIDAYS WHEN THAT WILL BE MY LIFE FOREVER.

god-fucking-damn. what an emotional sucker punch. it's not even funny how much you're feeling for characters(who are essentially just a bunch of wordless red shirts) and the whole playing it backwards thing just totally feeds it. and the music. OH MY GOD, THAT MUSIC. what a totally ace piece of film making. hats off to all involved [/gushing praise].

from life drawing. boy oh boy, is there a big back log of paper to be scanned in (i'm a nurotic nutbag and won't be happy till everything's backed up to the nines.)

this exercise was CRAZY. the model went through a string of minuet poses as they got undressed. man. that shit was intense. kinda left you feeling like someone had been playing croquet with your skull and a sledge hammer. pretty cool though, especially in terms of trying to get guesters down quick and thinking about how the body pulls shapes and oh my stars and garters, this is dissolving into typo-tastic nonsense. HOORRAY FOR SLEEP DEPRAVATION! I THINK THIS CALLS FOR SOME HAPPY-CLAPPY TUNEAGE!!
